The community needs assessment is the first step in strategic planning for United Way of Lake County, which will review the results including empirical data and survey responses.  The primary needs in the community have been identified as:

  • Substance Abuse
  • Poverty
  • Mental Health
  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • Aging Services

A task force of community leaders, United Way board members, and staff have assembled to review the data and identify the best course of action to address the issues in the future.  United Way of Lake County is working to become a community collaborator and top resource for emerging needs in the county.

Dave Wiles of CT Consultants is a United Way of Lake County board member and chair of the Community Needs Assessment Strategic Planning Committee, he states, “The purpose of the needs assessment was to provide our board of directors with a current assessment of needs in the county.  With these results, we are able to identify critical unmet needs as well as the strengths in health and human services. This allows us to plan for the future of United Way, utilizing community and collective impact to serve the residents of Lake County. “

Research was conducted over the last year by Artower Advisory Services, a management consulting from based in Willoughby, Ohio in collaboration with a volunteer group of Lake County residents.
