United Way Lake County Appoints Jennifer McCarty as New CEO/President

December 8, 2015 – Mentor, OH – United Way of Lake County has appointed Jennifer McCarty as Chief Executive Officer/President.  She will assume the role on January 1, 2016.

 “Jennifer brings a proven track record and is passionate about the work United Way does and the value the organization brings to the community,” said Dave Wiles, United Way of Lake County Board Chair.

Ms. McCarty recently served as Vice President of Marketing at United Way of Greater Knoxville where she held the position for five years.  During this time she and her team achieved the organization’s highest fundraising goal to date. Prior to this, Ms. McCarty worked in New York City at noted advertising agencies including McCann-Erikson and Deutsch, Inc. with a wide-ranging client base that included national companies such as Sony Pictures, Mutual of Omaha, and AT & T Wireless.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Florida.

“United Way is the foundational building block that creates and supports community resiliency,” said Ms. McCarty. “ I am excited to be able to leverage my experience at United Way of Greater Knoxville by leading United Way of Lake County, creating new resources and engaging in collaborative community efforts to benefit the residents in need and the agencies that serve them.”

Ms. McCarty is relocating from Tennessee with her husband Steven and their rescue animals.

Aside from her passion for community, Jennifer is an animal welfare and women’s rights enthusiast.  She has served on various boards and community groups including Junior League, Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley and Beagle Freedom Project. She is also an ASPCA Active Responder.
