February 25, 2015 - Mentor, OH -  Women's Leadership Council is now accepting funding requests for agencies and programs directly impacting the lives of women in Lake County.

United Way of Lake County's Women's Leadership Council's mission is to unite and reinforce traits that keep women of all ages in our own communities strong. To do this, the WLC supports 501(c)(3) and nonprofit organizations in Lake County with grants that promote this mission as well.

To apply for funds, the grant application can be found on the United Way of Lake County website at http://www.uwlc.org/wlc-funding-application or by contacting Kristin Kozar via email at kkozar@uwlc.org or by phone at 440-639-4583. Applications are being accepted until March 31. Awarded agencies will be announced and funds will be distributed this summer.

The Council raises money throughout the year to support the grant funding program through membership fees, informational breakfasts, and other events such as the Gender Pay Gap discussion and the Women's Winterfest. This is the first funding cycle they are offering since the Council reestablished in August of 2013.

United Way of Lake County and a core group of volunteers developed the Women's Leadership Council to positively impact the lives of women through the philanthropic efforts of giving, advocating and volunteering.  An annual membership fee applies.  Women's Leadership Council asks the women leaders in our community to make a contribution of $250 to help advance the mission.  These dollars will help make the community stronger by supporting those who need it most, while having the opportunity to work together, lifting each other higher.
