Women United

Women United of United Way of Lake County

Communities need champions who understand issues facing women, girls, and children, see their potential and offer solutions to make a difference. United Way has a network of more than 60,000 women in 155 communities dedicated to improving lives and creating stronger communities. We believe that when a network of caring, powerful women get together to drive change, anything is possible. Prove us right - help strengthen our work in Lake County by joining United Way of Lake County's Women United!

Our Purpose

Women United (WU) works to positively impact the lives of women and girls through the philanthropic efforts of giving, advocating, and volunteering.

  • Our purpose begins by helping females of all ages and backgrounds, from young girls through adulthood and into senior stages of life.
  • It is our desire to engage and empower women in this community to work together and make Lake County stronger.
  • It is our goal to create a network of women who can offer their time, experience, and resources to improve the lives and opportunities for women and girls in this community.
  • It is our obligation to give back to other women and girls; helping to uplift them in the achievement of their goals.

About Us  - Mobilizing the Power and Strength of Women

The concept of WU is based on the recognition of women as a powerful philanthropic force. The council is grounded in the idea that addressing the most critical needs of Lake County women and girls lifts the community as a whole and creates a better life for us all. Members stand up, unite and take action on issues that hit closest to home by advocating, educating, giving and volunteering.

WU is a dynamic group of women who ignite positive change and impact community - particularly in the areas of education, income and health. Our goal is to continue to grow in diversity to represent a variety of ages, ethnic backgrounds, professions and interests with the shared belief in the work of the WU.

Please join us today and help us realize this goal.

Our Work

The women who serve on United Way of Lake County's Women United are impressive, but what really sets this group apart is the freedom members have to invest their time, professional expertise and talent to advance the causes of girls and women in Lake County they feel passionate about.

As a member, the amount of time you have to invest is up to you. Some members serve on committees, some volunteer for heartwarming causes and others join simply to advocate on our behalf while enjoying social events and the friendship of other members. Whatever your interest level, there is nothing like the "feel good" moments our members get knowing their involvment is positively impacting the lives of other girls and women in need here in Lake County. Below is a list of the committees you are welcome to serve on:

  • Executive Oversight Committee

  • Grants Committee

  • Membership Committee

  • Volunteer/Mentoring Committee

  • Speaker Series Committee

  • Fundraising Committee
