United Way of Lake County has released the results of its community needs assessment to help determine what areas needed the most assistance.

The agency presented the findings Feb. 10 to its local partner agencies during a morning meeting and to the public through a document published on the organization’s website.

The assessment started about a year ago and eventually identified six primary needs — substance abuse, poverty, mental health, health care, education and aging services — within the Lake County community, said Nick Carrabine, the marketing and communication director.
