Keynote Speaker Tiger LaVerde to Address Audience at United Way of Lake County's Annual Meeting on April 20, 2016

March 3, 2016-- United Way of Lake County's keynote speaker for their April 20th Annual Meeting is Tiger LaVerde. Tiger is one of Ohio's greatest sports leaders - and he's from right here in Lake County. In the ten year's he's spent  as the Head Football Coach of the Kirtland High School Hornets, Tiger has stacked up a 127 - 15 record and has led his team to the state championship in the last 5 consecutive years, taking home 3 state titles including his most recent 2015 State Championship win. Tiger will speak about his evolution as a pilot of champions and the role giving back plays in his life - both on and off the field.

Tiger has a legion of fans in both the community and well beyond. Not just because he is a “winner”, but because he is a well-liked and highly respected member of our community who does so much more than win football -  Tiger builds and shapes the character of young men. He is a beloved role model to all lucky enough to cross his path. And you won't find anyone more humble. The advice he gives his players is, ""Work hard, stay humble, have fun - it's just a game." He was recently quoted as saying, "I heard a quote way back when and it's always stuck with me. If you pick an occupation you love, then you never have to go to work a day in your life. That's honestly how I feel."

In addition to the work he does shaping young men into champions, Tiger also coaches Kirtland's Middle School track team and teaches AP Calculus and AP Statistics at the high school. Tiger and his wife Mary and their four children live in Kirland.

United Way of Lake County's Annual Meeting is sponsored by Lake Health. Their Annual Meeting will be held at LaMalfa on Wednesday, April 20th from 7:30 am - 9 am. For reservations and more information about United Way of Lake County's Annual Meeting click here.
