Fifth Annual Dine-to-Donate Community Fundraiser Tuesday, April 10, 2018

United Way of Lake County Encourages Residents to Dine out During their Fifth Annual Dine-to-Donate Fundraiser Tuesday, April 10

Mentor, OH  (April 2, 2018) – United Way of Lake County’s 5th Annual Dine-to-Donate fundraiser will be held this year on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. The fundraiser is part of the organization’s Feed Lake County program, which is now in its 26th year.

United Way of Lake County (UWLC) helps feed Lake County’s hungry by providing food to over 50 local food pantries in the community.  Dine-to- Donate contributes to this by helping to raise funds for the purchase of food. On April 10 of this year, a total of 43 Lake County restaurants will donate a portion of their daily revenue to UWLC’s Feed Lake County program.

UWLC is asking residents to dine out April 10 at any participating restaurant. “We wouldn’t be mad if residents chose to dine out for two or three meals that day,” said Tami Lewis, United Way of Lake County’s Director of Marketing and Communications. “The greater each restaurant’s revenue is that day, the more our community benefits.  Dine-to-Donate is an easy way for residents to make a big impact on hunger in our community,” said Lewis.

President and CEO of United Way of Lake County said, “There are 28,410 Lake County residents who struggle with hunger, and we help support over 50 local food pantries to help feed our community’s hungry. Due to the generosity of our community, last year we were able to provide enough food for 204,966 meals. We hope to increase this number this year.”

According to Lewis, “Another way residents can help is by making a monetary donation. Every $5 donated is enough to provide 20 meals for our hungry, which means a $25 donation is enough to provide 100 meals.“ Donations can be made online at uwlc.org/feed or by phone at 440-639-1291. “And because the need is so great, we’re offering residents who donate the chance to win a large 65” LG Smart TV. With every $5 donated, donors will receive one contest entry for a chance to win. With every $25 donated, donors will receive 5 separate contest entries for a chance to win,” said Lewis. The contest ends April 30, 2018, and the winner will be randomly selected on or about May 4, 2018.

The organization is also accepting non-perishable food donations which may be dropped off at the offices of United Way of Lake County at 9285 Progress Parkway in Mentor. Arrangements can also be made for them to pick up food by calling 440-639-1236.

Needed non-perishable food items include peanut butter & jelly; pasta and sauce; canned meats such as tuna, chicken, and ham; canned fruits, vegetables, soups and stews; boxed food and meals like mac & cheese, tuna helper, rice and more.
