As the cold settles in and the holidays approach, the United Way of Lake County distributed hundreds of pounds of food to local food pantries on Dec. 6.
Nearly $20,000 worth of dry goods, including canned vegetables, soup, spaghetti sauce, juice and peanut butter were loaded into vehicles at the agency’s Mentor headquarters.
“At this time of year, we can really serve them a purpose,” said Marty Crews, primary coordinator for the food pantry at St. Bede Parish in Mentor. “It really helps them out a lot.”
